Hearing Tests

If you have noticed changes in your hearing, or simply want to understand your hearing health better, a professional hearing test is the right first step. At DigiClear Hearing, we offer a comprehensive Hearing Assessment at our clinics in Bishop’s Stortford and Chingford, carried out by our expert audiologists.

Unlike an online hearing test, a clinical assessment gives you a full and accurate picture of your hearing health, with clear guidance on what to do next.

What is a Hearing Assessment?

Our Hearing Assessment is a 90-minute appointment in which our audiologists use advanced diagnostic tests to assess your hearing health in full. We will explain your results clearly, recommend the right steps for improvement, demonstrate the latest hearing technology where relevant, and answer any questions you have.

The appointment covers:

  • A full ear health history check
  • A range of audiometric tests, including speech in noise testing
  • A clear explanation of your results and what they mean
  • Personalised recommendations based on your hearing profile
  • Demonstrations of the latest hearing technology, where appropriate

If earwax is identified as a contributing factor, we can also carry out earwax removal during the same appointment. This can be added on for £50.

How Much Does a Hearing Assessment Cost?

A Hearing Assessment at DigiClear Hearing costs £65. There are no hidden charges and no obligation to proceed with any treatment or purchase following your appointment.

If you are an existing DigiClear patient with a hearing care package, follow-up appointments including our Yearly Review and Six Month Review may be covered as part of your aftercare. Please see our Price Guide for full details.

Why Have a Clinical Hearing Test?

Many people put off having their hearing checked, often because they are unsure what to expect or are not certain their concerns are serious enough. In our experience, the sooner hearing changes are assessed, the more options are available.

A clinical hearing test is different from an online screening tool. It gives you:

  • Accurate, clinically validated results
  • A diagnosis from a qualified audiologist, not an algorithm
  • A conversation about your specific situation and lifestyle
  • A clear pathway forward, whether that is monitoring, treatment or hearing aids

If you have already used our Online Hearing Test as a first step, a Hearing Assessment is the natural next stage and will give you a much more complete picture.

Do I Need a Referral?

No. You do not need a referral from your GP to book a Hearing Assessment at DigiClear Hearing. You can book online or by calling our clinics directly.

What Happens After My Hearing Test?

At the end of your appointment, your audiologist will walk you through your results and discuss the options available to you. Depending on your results, this might include:

  • No action required, with a recommendation to return for a review in due course
  • Earwax removal, if blockage is contributing to your symptoms
  • Tinnitus management, if you are experiencing ringing or other sounds in your ears
  • A hearing aid consultation, with demonstrations of the technology best suited to your needs

There is no pressure to make any decisions on the day. Our role is to give you the information you need to make the right choice for your hearing health.

Not sure whether hearing aids could help you? Take our online hearing test and find out whether your hearing could be improved.
